Control4: The Pros and Cons

The Pros:

It can be argued that Control4’s greatest asset is that it can connect with a lot of different smart devices, such as Sonos, Somfy shades, Nest, and Yale locks to name a few. Control4 solutions work with more than 9,000 third-party devices. So if you started with a DIY smart home where you had different subsystems, you could most likely unite them all under Control4.

The Cons:

Cotnrol4’s pro is also in a way its own con. Yes, it can connect to many third-party devices, but that doesn’t mean they will always work reliably. Even with a strong home network, there are more bumps and flukes with a Control4 system because it’s trying to connect with so many different wireless devices that have not been manufactured by Control4. A wired solution is always more reliable than a wireless one, and many homeowners who quickly buy a Control4 system to unite all of their wireless devices may be disappointed by the follow-through.

Savant: The Pros and Cons

The Pros:

Savant’s user experience defeats Control4’s by a longshot. The app is sleek, sexy and more customizable than Control4’s. Take one look at the home screen on an iPad, and you’ll pick Savant over Control4 every day of the week. Apple users tend to love Savant more than the other control brands because they have similar UX designs. You can upload pictures and add them to your favorite scenes and use them for the wallpaper too. Not only does the interface look better, but it is also more versatile since it can be adjusted to fit your unique lifestyle. You can define and set new scenes without additional programming.

Over the years of working with smart home automation systems, we’ve found Savant to be incredibly reliable. Everything works the way it should, day after day. You won’t find yourself calling up your integrator every month because your system is glitching. Instead, the technology stays a seamless part of your daily life.

The Cons:

To be honest, we had to think hard about what cons to include here. The thing that stuck out was that Savant doesn’t have as quite as many partnerships with third-party devices as Control4 does. However, they are working on expanding that list as time goes on, and they currently support everything you could possibly need for a fully automated smart home.

Our Conclusion

Not only is Savant a top choice among Delray Beach homeowners when it comes to the user experience, but it also requires the least amount of maintenance and technical support. The system is reliable, versatile, beautiful to look at and easy to use.

In short, before you go searching for a Control4 dealer to add a smart system to your property, consider giving us a call. We’re happy to walk you through the Savant system so that you can see for yourself how intuitive and easy it is.
